I only require a way to monitor output on an SDI grading device, I don't need anything more than a simple Thunderbolt/USB-C to SDI solution. It'd be great for my sanity to know if BMD TB2 devices are simply not supported anymore but I see so many people having the same problems with the UltraStudio Monitor 3G that I'm loathe to run out and order one of those.

The only possible thing I can think of it being is the fact that this TB2 Mini Monitor is no longer supported but the manual only says that going from TB2 to TB3 is not supported - not the other way around. I'd really like to see a video of the BMD engineers getting this to work.

No combination of OS and security preference changes or even selecting "Allow" and "Restart" in different orders has resulted in Blackmagic Desktop Video recognizing the UltraStudio device on my M1 MacBook Pro despite it showing up in the system profiler every single time. After that failed to work, I ran the uninstaller and tried the method above with disabling SIP and deleting extensions through terminal. I even used the Startup Security Utility before downloading the Desktop Video 12 beta installer.

Then I noticed that the uninstall left 3 kernal extensions on my system: I completely uninstalled several times and reinstalled, but it was still the same. I tried installing 12.0b1 and got the same thing. The recorder was recognized, but all I saw was a black screen in OBS. I experienced the same issue as everyone else. I had Desktop Video 11.7 installed on Catalina and then upgraded to Big Sur. MY SOLUTION - UltraStudio Recorder 3G and Big Sur
